Every night, students should read for at least 20 minutes. Please be sure to check and sign your child's agenda nightly.
Third Grade Homework: Writing Prompt
Due Friday, 2/9
Monday, 2/5: Read the two passages. Answer the questions 1-5 on the lines provided.
Tuesday, 2/6: Reread the passage. Answer the following question on a lined piece of paper:
Read this paragraph from "Coral Reef Goes Digital."
"'Coral reefs are incredibly threatened,' Rick MacPherson of California's Coral Reef Alliance told Weekly Reader. 'They require, now more than ever, that people pay attention and work toward protecting them.'"
Response Question: Does the Amazon rain forest also require that people work toward protecting it? Why or why not? Support your answer using information from both texts.
Use the graphic organizer on the back to organize your thinking and then write your response follow the format below.
Wednesday, 2/7: Type your response on Google Docs. See instructions below.
Thursday, 2/8: Open your assignment on Google. (See Directions above)
Friday, 2/9: Turn in all of your papers including the question page and your rough draft that you wrote on Tuesday.
Parents, please be sure that your child is typing their own response. They will be required to do this on the SBAC testing at the end of the year. The more practice they have, the better. Also, if you child does not have access to a computer or tablet in which they can type, please have them rewrite the prompt on a separate sheet of paper and turn it in.

- Paragraph 3 – Conclusion (Review what you said in the paragraphs)
Wednesday, 2/7: Type your response on Google Docs. See instructions below.
- Go to Google.com
- Sign in using your google account information:
- Username/Email: _______________________
- Password: ___________________________
- Open Classroom using the Waffle button in the top right corner.
- Open the assignment: Trouble in the Amazon Writing Prompt
- Open the document and type on the document.
- Close the document when you are done. DO NOT TURN IN.
Thursday, 2/8: Open your assignment on Google. (See Directions above)
- Reread your response. Check for correct spelling, punctuation, capitalization and complete sentences.
- When you are finished, please click turn in and your assignment will be turned in to me.
